Peering over the border, It looks to Canadians like an ultra-rightwing Republican/Democrat uniparty demonstraing the manufacture of consent in constricting American political debate to: Pro-surgical castration of children, pro-MIC, pro-abortion VERSES racist mysogenist pro-MIC, abortion-denying. long and short of it, Citizen United as destroyed your democracy. Fingers crossed (and the will of gods/goddesses conjured) Cornel West and rfk jr change this.
How can we see through the bs and somehow he can’t? He’s carrying water for them and the party for his own self interest. It’s really remarkable that he thought this would fly. Why even get on here just to make excuses if it’s not to keep access to the establishment and it’s players?

It was said initially when AOC was at her height, that individuals don't change institutions, institutions change individuals. Everything Marans points out: democrats internal policies of "pay to play", the personal fortitude it takes of elected individuals to withstand the inevitable storms, money in politics, all clearly support the idea the institution that is the democratic party will not be changed from the inside alone. Necessary systemic change of our electoral system has to also come from outside the two parties.
Daniel Marans is a reporter that just shield for the Democratic right and middle of the party. He tends to justify or minimize the harsh realities of the Democratic parties, right and center lean. He appears to be an apologist for the main stream democratic party. Pretending to be sympathetic to the left.

Shouldn't this be more "what can we learn from the Justice Democrats"? Why do we care if they fail? idgaf. I want my goals (their stated goals, and then some) to succeed. I don't think we can cure power/access (and threats of losing it in exchange for small victories for your area) changing people. Let's consolidate as the left again and get some viral candidates speaking the language of the working class. This is for the people who voting isn't a struggle. For everyone else, we also need a viral squad of organizers who can move people to action (something politicians won't do).
Justice Democrats simply did not trust the voters who put them in office. They are convinced that the establishment is stronger and more influential than the progressive message that got them elected. It's a lack of faith, and I don't judge them, but I can't support them if they won't fight.
I think you're missing the point of the "Freedom" caucus. Those people WILL blow up the government, their whole job is to tear things down. The Squad doesn't have that sort of bargaining power b/c they don't want to destroy everything, whereas Joe Machin just might. Kevin McCarthy is also a historically weak speaker.
I'm pretty sure that the Justice Democrats will be able to get some much needed help from AOC's good buddy, Hakeem Jeffries; or maybe Mama Bear Pelosi will float them some of her "uncannily" accurate stock market moola …
Maran's AOC apologia tour & regurgitation of "pragmatic" excuses is just pathetically sad. AOC has proven to be the Millennials' Neera Tanden, and will be twice as destructive.
