Regarding the chess reference, a queen and a king CAN checkmate an opposing king without it being a draw. The example shown is the one scenario where that person did not know how to checkmate his opponent. Usually draws in chess with few pieces are a bishop and king; knight and king; or pawn and king, vs an opposing king

I just had a thought about that vial Fury collects, we're assuming it's an Avengers DNA, but what if it's not? What if it's a special formula that they had been working on, something like the Infinity Formula from the comics? It might be something that FURY is going to take to level the playing field with Gravik. As you pointed out it can't be all the DNA from the Battle of Earth and the liquid is clear instead of red. We are all thinking along the lines of he's getting what Gravik wants, but that seems like an unnecessary risk on Fury's side to me.
