MOST FUN SUBCLASS in Patch 8 Baldur’s Gate 3 Tier List
Ranking the MOST FUN SUBCLASS in Patch 8 of Baldur’s Gate 3 on a Tier List. Fun is subjective, but some of these offer so many cool new ways to enjoy the game I thought I would break down my thoughts and explain each of them. Even the D tier choice can be fun with a good roleplay, but the ones in the high tier allow for many other ways to roleplay / enjoy combat. Tried to blend every metric into all of these, let me know your thoughts in the comments!

Fun is subjective, but these are ranked on the unique abilities each brings to the game and how versatile they can be. For example, Wizard is one of my least favorite classes, but Bladesinging lets you make a melee spellcaster with many different flavors (multiclass cleric, sorc, druid etc.) and I am a big fan of the monk, but I find that the drunken master monk limits you to roleplaying as a drunk. There are a lot of variables for each of these rankings
I made a playlist of all my Patch 8 tier lists here! https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLHoBqfqA3xg41utlcuR_HWZfUA4AatUb6

Most fun subclass in Patch 8 – still Dread Overlord warlock)….
I've been thinking of playing a Hexblade 9/Arcane Archer 3 solely to banish targets.
Arcane Archer gets Banishing Arrow at level 3, as you highlighted in this video.
Hexblade gets 2 ways of banishing a target: Banishment at lvl 7, and Banishing Smite at lvl 9.
Both are concentration spells though. But Banishment can be upcast to target additional targets. Busted
Ok I love the black outfit, so ofc I'm going to ask, which one is it? Annnnddddd.. I've now done 3 playthroughs (not done yet, but I guess started) as Bladesinger (runs with diff groups of friends/fam) so I ofc LOVE it. I just started one as Arcane Archer, so.. we'll see how goes.
The only thing I don't like about druid is wildshape animal forms messing up dialogue interactions. Being a twinkly druid doesn't get in the way of that so I actually use a druid now. I like all the chatter too much to have beast forms mess it up.
Drunk is just too fun to look at even if it isn't that good
I love the fun tier lists. Will you do an updated full subclass tier list or is it generally still the same?
ahh this is so sick!! so helpful for getting back into BG3, thank you :') <33
Shadow magic sorcerer is the reason I redownloaded the game
Karlach throwing stuff has carried my whole campaign lol
Giant Barbarian is legitimately S tier for me just for the boot alone, kicking enemies into pits like its the movie 300 is incredibly entertaining to me.
Unlike you, i haven't played all the subclasses yet, so I can't say which imho is most fun ,…but I can say what style i enjoy playing a lot.
I love dex based range fighters and really find that style a lot of fun.
I was surprised how much i enjoyed Hexblade too.
The perfect combo for me, in a subclass or class, is one that combines charisma, dex, and strength. So, Warlock and Sorcerers are fun when they get a certain club or gloves to boost stats.
Those would be my S tiers for fun.
What would you consider most fun between Bladesinger and Sword Bard?
It's always interesting hearing others perspectives. I have been loving the oath of the crown and haven't broken my oath yet (but just in act 2) but I love the unique dialog you get with the subclass not just the class and I enjoy the restrictions of the oath. kind of like a restrictions promotes creativity approach. "how can I solve this while maintaining my oath" kind of thing. great video
What mod is that attire from I love it the boots too
im loving your vids bru, but this mf thumbnail😂
Hey man, would you do a same tierlist for Sumradagnoth's subclasses?
Shadow sorc is probably my favourite however I kinda wish there were some more dialogue and spells for it. Kind why I always multiclass into hexblade so I can get the dogs and the spectres.
Done a new playthrough recently and been really enjoying my storm sorc tempest domain cleric with 6 in barbarian. (Using level 20 mod) and then 2 in paladin for smites and you have a Thor build. Can use magic then go into a rage and knock enimes back while throwing your hammer or bonking them with it
Its come to the points that if i multiclass with Hexblade i feel dirty. Same thing with Strength potions (unless I can find a good RP reason).
I disagree about the Glamour bard. I think its B (A for people that wants to just shut down every boss in the game super easy). It is very good at support and control (at level 10 it will, as a theoretical maximum, bestow 880 temp hp in a day to the party). Also, never ever underestimate the fact that the Mantle of Majesty works on everyone. Command does not. It can just shut down any boss super easy.
Hell yeah brother!
most fun then talks about strength of the classes and then says the weaker classes are less fun because they are weak
Hey! Thanks so much for this overview and assessment! I'm gathering my courage this evening and allowing BG3 to update to Patch 8 on Steam (until now, I was worried that my favorite mods would break). As I said before, "Recruit Any NPC" and "Party Limit Begone" by Nexus are my absolute favorite mods. However, even though they haven't been updated since 2024, I read in the discussions that they should still work perfectly after Patch 8. Unfortunately, some class mods don't yet indicate that they're "Patch 8 tested." I love Wyldheart, Master of Hounds, or Dragontamer, for example. For both, it's unclear whether they'll work with Patch 8. Compatibility isn't confirmed for some equipment mods either. Therefore, I've been very hesitant about updating. But your constant new videos are increasingly making me curious to try out the new subclasses.
May I ask if you personally prefer the Bladesinging Wizard or the Duskblade Spellblade? The Duskblade class is supposed to work with Patch 8. But I'm secretly still hoping that the other Duskblade class by WaterWitch83 (unfortunately, with the same class name but a different mod author) will work with Patch 8 as well.
Thank you so much for your effort. I really appreciate it. Please keep up the good work! Sometimes I'm really worried that you'll never sleep 😀
except swashbuckler not being s tier I can get onboard with this list.
Hey man I love your content, I hope I am not overstepping here, but it does feel like this was a strength based tier list rather than one focused on fun.
All you talked about was how strong each subclass’ abilities were, rather than why you enjoy playing them.
Absolutely fine if that heavily affects the amount of fun you personally have but, in a single player game you can complete with any build, it does seem like a missed opportunity to talk about the unique mechanics each subclass has.
Pleaaaase you always wear the best clothes mods, you should put them in the description so we stop pestering you about them 😂 what is the armour that your tav is wearing?
My goat
Damn when is console gonna get all the cool looking weapons and armor? That suit looks dope as hell
I think Hexblade really shines when mixing multiple Charisma classes. 1 level in Hexblade, 2 in Paladin for smite, and 9 in Bard (College of Sword) gets you 5th level spell slot and an extra attack per action.
I disagree that swashbuckler should only get to lvl 4. Of all the rogue it benefits the most from monoclass because it can get sneak attack reliably without set up or items. Although i understand that its bonus action abilities are pretty useful in a multiclass.
My first play though was a Swashbuckler/Swords Bard and every subsequent playthough feels like it is lacking in comparison. It is pretty rough when your Tav isn't charisma focused, especially when you don't know the general outcome of your dialogue choices.
What do you recommend for Honour Myrkul? Because I have a strong Rogue and Fighter (with Voss's sword) that I may I have to change, they're paired with a cleric and wizard both with lightning focus.
Now might be a good time to try and actually finish the game. Many hours in the game, never finished Act 1, as there's always "ooh gotta try this build" moments. Edit: Bladesinger sounds like I could do a 'Jedi' build 🙂
Yesterday, leveling up a 6-6 warlock bard, in tactician, the game was telling me the level 6 sword bard extra attack would not stack with the Hex blade’s level five extra attack. So I went 5-7 bard/ warlock. Did I read the level up UI wrong? The three attacks were part of my build conception so a bit bummed about it.
RE- POST, like mail. Not post-erior
Kinda disagree on Death Domain tapering off after lvl 6. Simply because the damage of its channel divinity increases with more levels of Cleric and as long as you get full caster levels you'll be able to upcast Inflict Wounds for a big nuke.
Alternatively You can easily make a Necrotic weapon build.
