Building A Monster + Racing Rental Cars vs Shaun Umscheid.

TL;DR: Shaun Umscheid joins me at Lutz Race Cars to wrench on our 1977 C10 Pro Street SEMA build—big block out, full suspension overhaul, massive tires, and a rental car showdown you won’t want to miss.

Back at Lutz Race Cars: Project 77 C10 Build Progress + Special Guest Rental Car Challenge

In this episode, I’m back at Lutz Race Cars continuing our 1977 Chevrolet C10 Pro Street truck build—a one-off project made possible thanks to CRC Industries, Edelbrock Performance, and the talented team at LRC.

This truck isn’t just built for power—it’s being built for purpose. Once complete, it’ll debut at SEMA, then head to auction, where 100% of the proceeds will fund tech school scholarships to help support future professionals in the trades.

Joining me for a few days in the shop is Shaun Umscheid, better known as the “What? Nooo Waaay Guy.” Shaun jumped right in and was hands-on every step of the way:

Pulled the Blower Shop Equipped, 555 Edelbrock/Musi big block in preparation for a full QA1 suspension install
Removed the rear suspension to make room for giant Mickey Thompson tires
Disassembled the bed and installed a new Auto Metal Direct bed floor, that will be customized by Jeff and Jr to fit the oversized rubber.
Adjusted the ride height—this thing is slammed, and it looks right
Mounted a set of Convo Pro wheels that complete the Pro Street look
To wrap it all up, Shaun and I faced off in a 0–60 MPH rental car challenge—and somehow, we both ended up in BMWs. You’ll have to watch to see who had the quicker one.

If you’re into custom truck builds, Pro Street, Top Fuel Dragsters, or just appreciate watching real work happen in the shop, this episode delivers.

Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe to stay on board as we get closer to the big reveal at SEMA.

  2. Holy Hell, Where did Jeff find that AMC at, Dang a AMC Javelin is a Car I would love to have at some point, with a lot of HP under the hood and low to the ground with wide tires and wheels on all 4 corners, painted a Deep dark Black with tons of the biggest metal flake possible and tons of European Show Clear over it, so you can see down deep into the paint

  3. That truck is going to be sick.. too bad Shaun could only be there for a couple of days.. you guys should go up to his house and help on his chevelle lol

  4. I’m so glad out of all my NHRA heroes, that you are my top fuel dragster idol.

Right up there with Don Prudhomme and John Force

I thank you so much for taking care of us fans and every time I go to the track, you’re always amping us fans up and never forgetting where you came from.

Stomp on the loud pedal and extra special thanks for taking all your fans on this YouTube journey with you.

  5. I'm trying to convince my PNW friends to come visit you this weekend at the Northwest Nationals. They need the baptism by Nitro. It'd be there first time! And that only man that I can think of giving a good baptism too is you!

  6. So much envy you guys having such freedom of car modification work !. Most of the modifications shown here is strictly prohibited here in Japan without authorised inspection. 🤣
