    1. I started watching anime in original dub (Japanese) when Free! aired but the anime that made me want to follow the medium was Mermaid Melody. It was dubbed locally but the songs were left untouched so I was able to listen to it in its original form. Sadly I wasn’t able to immediately check other shows that times because of school and there wasn’t any legal way to watch anime, unless it’s dubbed locally.

I was surprised that Free! introduced character songs before the TV series actually aired (if I recall correctly). I was aware that it’s a a thing because of some anime shows I watched (Special A and OHSHC) but Free! was when I actually realized that character songs are big deal that time. Matsuoka Rin’s chara song confused me a lot because it sounds so different from his talking voice.

The first song that caught my attention that isn’t a character song is Matsushita Yuya’s Trust Me. I didn’t even watch the anime that time but it’s very popular that even a casual anime fan like me knows it.

Looks like TV size of OP and ED are always in the anime’s OST CD? I checked my Rage on Anime Edition and Splash Free CDs (the oldest CDs that I have) and they don’t have the TV size version in it.

Ironically I learned about Hatanaka from Yumeiro Cast, not from anime or anisong. Though when you think about it, his early releases are kind of all over the place and he only recently tried the “full experience” of singing anisong.

I’m more of a listener of character songs than of OP/ED anisong. It’s mostly because it gets tiring for me to hear the same “formula” for OP and ED. Most OP and ED songs that I like from top of my head are Matsushita Yuya’s Trust Me and Mukai Taichi’s Reset because they don’t follow the formula closely. They sound closer to “mainstream” music, if that makes sense. I’d like to hear a seiyuu sing something similar to those song. Maybe there’s already some but I haven’t been following the trends too closely.

    2. I remember 10 years ago when I started watching anime for the first time I remember I listen to endings by the seiyuu of the anime that actually made me happy, I was like” my characters are singing!! It’s amazing that they can sing and some of them have a good voice wow” that’s was before I found out that seiyuu can sing 😂😔

Question: I always wanted to ask about R&B songs. What are they actually? How can I tell this song is an R&B song? I used to listen to Yuya too and I really like his songs but what makes the songs R&B?
If Mamo’s song Black&white is R&B, then is Okay and Beautiful night are also R&B?

I know the ballad, rock, and pop but I can’t know the R&B songs 😔

    3. I always check for good anisongs on Spotify as that the most easiest way for me to explore Japanese music and talking about favourite anisongs I have a enough favourite songs to make a very long list but then if want to choose one which is by a seiyuu then it will be Granrodeo's move on!Ibaramichi for Saiyuki Reload Blast .Also Bungou Stray Dogs have openings for all the seasons by give by seiyuu singers Taniyama Kishou (Granrodeo) and Hayashi Yuu (Screenmode) even those songs are pretty dope. Trust me is another good song which instantly grabs your attention . Although unfortunately among all the anime I have watch till today I never got even a single anisong given by Mamoru Miyano although I have a lot of his songs on my playlist but the recent ed Dream On for anime Uramichi Oniisan is really good and also is catching a lot of attention among the anime fans.
