Pikmin 4 Isn’t Perfect

I am a brand new pikmin fan. I played all the games for the first time in preparation for 4 and I have to say, I’m kind of disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, The game is good. Really good in fact. But I feel like it messes up on a lot of the little things and all of those little things start to pile up over time. One of the most annoying things about this game is that the characters never stop talking. In the beginning of the game the characters never stop talking, but after you get to the second area it basically stops and you can always skip the dialogue which is nice. The problem is that the characters will still talk to you during gameplay and their dialog boxes appear right in the middle of the screen. It’s a very annoying and even during the freaking Final boss it still happens! I looked in the Settings menu to see if there was any way to turn off their commentary and surprise surprise there’s not. I was literally yelling at my TV for the characters to just shut the hell up💀. I feel like pikmin 4 lacks the charm every other game in the series has. every other game in the series he feels like you’re a little person exploring a post apocalypse earth, in pikmin 4 it feels like you’re exploring somebody’s house while they’re on vacation. The day/night system should not be in this game as it only harms it. Since there is no day limit, the system does not need to be here in the slightest so all it does is drag you away from having fun and make you sit through a bunch of dialogue boxes and loading screens until you can finally get back to what you were doing. This was a problem in pikmin 2 as well and it’s just as bad here. I also hate how they took the side mode of this game and just shoved into the main story. I don’t like how it breaks up the normal gameplay. And Don’t even get me started on how unnecessarily confusing this games placement in the timeline is. I honestly could go on for even longer since I have many other problems with the game, but I think you get the point. I hear a lot of people called this the perfect Pikmin game and I completely disagree with that. I do like pikmin 4 but it just has too much holding it back for me and I can honestly never see myself replaying it in the future (also I made a video about pikmin 4 a couple months ago except it’s a lot shorter and it has almost the exact same title as yours and I just thought that was really funny)

Pikmin 4 is a good game but it is far from perfect. I keep hearing a lot of people say it’s the perfect Pikmin game but I completely disagree. I feel like this is just one of those games were almost everybody is in a honeymoon phase with it with recency bias

if you are judging it as a game its a very good game
but if you are judging it as a pikmin game it is a disgrace

I hate pikmin 4 and think it ruined the franchise (I havent seen the video yet, but im still commenting that the game is really bad) 3 and 1 are amazing though

Pikmin 4 is probably my goty in this really stacked year. Even if the game is really easy, and you can spam the spicy spray to beat the bosses really easily, it's still so much fun.

I never was the biggest Pikmin fan, but this game reignited my love for this franchise.

It deeply saddens me to say this but, I didn't really like PIKMIN 4 as a PIKMIN game. PIKMIN 4 changed far to much, was far to easy, and far to many tutorials/captions talking in gameplay for me to like this game as a PIKMIN game. As a standalone game this game is great but as a PIKMIN game it is the WORST mainline PIKMIN game (not including Hey! PIKMIN) but the six main things that make me don’t like this game is 1. Oatchi 2. The new camera 3. The difficulty 4. The auto lock on 5. Only 3 PIKMIN types out at a time 6. The complete story reboot. These six things ruin PIKMIN 4 for me. The only one I feel like I have to explain is the new camera that’s closer to the PIKMIN. The new camera makes it feel like a different game not PIKMIN and is also the reason the auto lock on, because it’s incredibly difficult to throw PIKMIN with the camera so close. Another reason for the camera situation is the reason the camera was like that was to remind you how small Olimar and the PIKMIN are, to help you throw PIKMIN and to let you see more of your surroundings. The new camera gets rid of all of that and makes it feel like any other game so new comers don’t struggle. Now you can move the camera to be more like traditional PIKMIN but the levels weren’t designed around that so it ends up being more of an inconvenience than anything. I waited years for a PIKMIN game that, too me, doesn’t even feel like PIKMIN which deeply saddens me. I hope they get there act together next game and makes a actual PIKMIN game not just some other game called PIKMIN. But with all of that said I'm still glad that everyone one else is enjoying this game, and it makes me thrilled to see how many new PIKMIN fans have come from PIKMIN 1/2 HD and PIKMIN 4. PIKMIN means so much to me and many others and I'll stick with this franchise until I die but this game will always be one of my least favorite PIKMIN games.
