What was the money limit?
I liked my own comment
Samataopaco = Se ha matao paco its a famous soanish video were a guy named paco goes searching for a football but falls, very funny, unfortunately it wasnt chozen 😢😅
The Historical Prinz Eugen was Austrian, so it makes sense for it to be the name of an Austrian Hungarian ship… well he was Holy Roman Empire, which is why germany also claims him as one of their historically great general.
So cool very exciting!
Boats that floats
Da da daaa, awaiting the next exciting episode.
Congratulations to the picked winners!
Wow! Can't believe my ship got in! Apologies in advance to everyone else who sent in an Austria-Hungary design if I embarass us!
awe damn my didn't get in heh. i that's fine, best of luck to those who are in the tourney
congrats to all that got picked
So my design wasn't in the entries of the german bcs. Its called 'Britenbrenner'. There is no rule against slighly threatening names, right? 🙂
Won't you have to run 90 games with all 10 nations facing all other nations? That's gonna be a lot of videos
Wow, there are so many designs with veteran crews, and I submitted a ship with three drunken Slavs… Anyway, good luck to all the selected designs, and maybe next time my design will get picked
As I mentioned in a previous comment under another video, an alternative method for selecting designs could involve players testing their designs against a predefined 'standard design.' However, it wouldn't be a perfect solution, and perhaps randomly selecting designs is a better option.
I don't know if there should've been rules for names or not.
On one hand I'm very amused by the French ship
On the other hand a anime char ship is representing Japan
It's funny because when I say this video I thought "You know what, I'm going to tell him my idea" and then find out me and everyone else had the same idea which you addressed as soon as the video started lol Thank you for the clarification.
Was disappointed my BC wasn't even in the selection until I opened it up just now and it's somehow gotten 111% displacement.. 🙁
Hi Stealth, regarding the game version/Update, I think you can avoid the update in your steam settings. Maybe you even can set the game back to an older version.
Another question, last time you gave us a link where we could find all the designs for our own testing. I can't find such a link this time. Have I missed it or do you not offer it this time?
The Wang has small guns but packs a big punch. Stumpy 😂😂 "Lets have a look at the Wang"
1.4 will be a little problematic for the tournament.
I don't remember well the beta patch notes, but I think it said all designs and campaing saves will be incompatible with the new version due to many changes in the mechanics.
For example, hulls will now have a max armor value that can be added, which probably means no 20' belt BBs, at least for older hulls, I guess.
10:18, believe or not, Prinz Eugen was a Austro-Hungarian BB, built long before the german cruiser, making it the original PE.
oh did the Kestrel not make it in for Austria-Hungary? Amusingly the Elisbeth is quite close to the original design I was planning to do so I'll 100% be cheering for it. I'll be sure to submit for the next tournament since I got idea for cruisers
I've got my money on the French
Ah damn, apparently I missed the tournament announcement in the first place. Sadge. Also technically Prinz Eugen II is the German WW2 cruiser. Prinz Eugen the first was the Austro-Hungarian Tegetthoff-class dreadnought. The Germans named the CA in honor of the Austrians.
Alternate ship design selection idea: release a standard ship you have designed as the benchmark, and with each design submitted, have them record a video of their battle against your standard design to guage performance. Perhaps take the top 3 results and randomize/do a viewer vote or something. Just a thought. If you went with the top-performing design for each nation, you'd definitely get some crazy effective ships I believe, as they would be able to fine-tune it against the benchmark ship.
i have a suggestion Budget-wise
instead of a ship budget use a "Fleet Budget"
Basically, if ship cost is 10$ & Fleet budget is 50$ then they get 5 ships in the match
this would give an option for Players to use quantity tactics instead of only quality.
& i think it would make for a very entertaining match if we get to see 10 bad ships fighting 3 good ships
I am probably guilty of one of those interesting Japanese designs, 20×14 main guns in 5 quads, 20×6 secondaries in casemates and ~80 skill crew with pitric acid to party like it’s 1905
My favorite is the Italian. but Group A looks a lot tougher than Group B, so i think the Japanese design in group b stand a really good chance as well
Go team Italy! SAP for life!
I knew something was weird with the Japanese hulls, because mine (IJN Princetta) seemed a bit unbalance compare to other nations. Where other nations had to significantly sacrifice one or two components, where as the Japanese hull hardly sacrificed anything.
My design had six center line 9.9in triple long barrelled turrets, 4 9.9in triple side mounts same length, four 3.9 long barrelled secondaries, armor (Modern II) 14 in main belt and 6 in main deck, 2 in superstructure. Max bulkheads, gear turbine II, 36 kn, unbalance rudder to solve turn problem, weak point Anti-torp I, anti-flood III, Triple hull, Reinforce bulk-I, 84 crew training, standard quarters, Auto load II, Gen III radar, Stereo V, RDF, Triple based tubepowder, pitric acid, High capacity shells, max HE, SAP (just in-case AI decided to use it).
Overall was very proud of the design. I ran it through multiple scenarios with AI control, using different designed ships including variants of what could be same as mine. An every battle averaged about 15-30 mins (in-game time) (5-10mins IRL).
But either way was still glad my design was at least accepted into the selections. Good luck to those competing 👍
My money is on the Frenchie, good guns and armor. The Italians too, a well rounded ship.
Kinda want to see maybe a blurb on the designs that didn't make it. I sent in Saint Thomas d'Aquin, kind of curious how well it may have performed.
Hello all together and especially Stealth17, as Stealth mentioned in the video and some discussing in the comments there is the question if the nation Japan is unballanced or broken and if the high speec BC's are an exploit of that. I at least partly disagree with that and here is the explanation why. Sorry the text is a bit longer.
First I want to mention that I designes the Nezumi, a 49 knots japanese BC with heavy guns and lots of torpedos. If the wheel of fortune would have spinned a little bit slower this ship would be in the tournament 😪
This ship was not my first approach. Initially I planned a more resonable design but than decided to check what the fastest possible design would be. I tried that with different nations. The fact is, that you can build such super fast BC's with many nations. Actually the brits have the fastes hull. But speed is not everything. You also need space for the weapons and towers for the aiming ability.
The advantage of 1940 Japan is, that it offers very good towers that also don't take much space on the deck. With that you can arrange a well balanced and well armed super fast BC that also has good precision. With other nations you have much more struggle with the size of the towers (especially the advanced ones). Thats the reason why the 1940s Japan can build better super fast BC's in the game.
We also have to understand that in the 1920s tournament the French had a similar advantage. The French 1920 BB's have very good towers (already Tier 1 towers) that also don't take too much space. Thats why the French in 1920 can build the most precise BB's (Thats why I send in the Le Stupide 😉) . In other words, all nation have specific advantages at certain times and ship types. The question is if other nations can compensate that with other strength? Thats something the designes have to consider when designing these ships.
So in my case I decided that speed is a great advantage and looked for the best possible speed build and I found that in the japanese tech (at least I believe so). Someone else may have decided that size and toughness is better and looked for the tech that offers the biggest advantages in that regard. When putting these designs in a battle we will see who was right.
In genral I think this is ok for the tournament. But in this specific case I also see an issue.
49 knots for a BC is totally unrealisic and generates a huge advantage in the game that (I believe) cannot be compensated. So no nation should be possible to reach such speeds. Thats not a specific japanese bug or inbalance. Because of the tower advantage the japanese just take the most profit out of that general "bug".
For this and future tournament I also see some issues. It's obvoius that no real balancing has been done on the nations. So I expect there will always be some advantages for specific nations. As long as the good designs come in the tournament we will not have equal chances for all nations. There is also no way to solve this. The only thing we could do would be to have battles with different ship typs and hoping that this compensates this issue a bit. But for thealth17 that would be very difficult to handle.
Thats my thoughts on this topic. Maybe some you you want to try building a ship that beats the super fast japanese BC's. Or try to build a super fast BC from another nation and look if you can reach the performance of the japanese ones.
It appears that the importance of a well-trained crew has been made clear to the designers. It's nice that the budget for this tournament allowed for such high numbers.
Stealth, your method for selecting the ships is fine. One thing I suggest is that those who are selected for a tournament are not eligible for the following tournament, to give others a chance.
Awesome hat 😎👍

Well then, I wasn't expecting this when I got my internet connection after a week. I knew Spain wasn't probably going to be anybody's first pick but still…only five submissions? At least I got picked, now let's see how my bad design decisions fare. Named after a grape they make sherry out of by the way.
I've only just noticed the google drive folder now. Thank you for posting that.
1.4.0.0 is here, so will these be able to finish?
