It is said that 50 Japanese yen in 1900s is equivalent to 1 million yen today. Economy in Japan has been growing but the price of things getting higher and higher. These days 50yen can't give us anything but cheap small candy or chocolate. I wish I could bring money, go to Japan in 1900 and spend rich life lol.
Loved the chaotic transitioning of this episode, like you said it really feels like we're seeing this episode through the eyes of this demented dude. My main issue with this episode is how I'm not convinced at the reason for the characters being in that situation. Sure they could get a lot of money from doing this, but to me I feel like where we're at in the story it makes no sense to be going off into these weird, almost season 1-esque tangents. Tsurumi, Ogata and Hijikata are all out there either looking for the last few skins or trying to track Asirpa, so why now of all times are we fucking around in the forest looking for Platinum and Gold? It feels like by coincidence we've just managed to find another convict despite having scoured most of Hokkaido throughout the past few seasons and that it doesn't justify to us why this one has been found in the way he has. It felt organic in Season 1, 2 and 3 because they cropped up on our journey towards something else, here it just felt too unnatural plot wise. We're closing in on the end of S4 now so hopefully we're gearing into something in next few episodes to take us into hopefully final season.
Not as good as last episode but also not as bad as some of the final episodes of Part 1 of this season.
Little strange episode with a horror taste, but I think it was an essential encounter for Asiripa to reconfirm "how to use gold" and "importance of correctly conveying Ainu culture to future generations."
And Heita is voiced by Katsura's VA lol.
