I am NOT a pilot by any means, although I'm pretty close to having earned my Youtube viewer pilot certificate. I must be getting good at it this because when you decided to go around I was a good 5-10 seconds ahead of you. Going around is always an option until it isn't – like if you run out of gas.
Your instructor said something that answered one of my questions. I remember how nervous I was teaching my daughter to drive. She only nearly killed us once. He's got the controls right there but still, it's got to be a killer on the nerves at times. Your instructor is a duck – above water he's calm cool, and collected, but under the water his feet is paddling a million miles a second.
