I saw the first season & it was a surprise hit for me. It was a sweet & funny anime. I haven’t seen the second season yet but it’s on my list.

Yes, it's a cute, sweet, wholesome romantic comedy anime. It doesn't really have drama or things that turn it dark, so you will most likely like this anime. It does have some cheekyness but, kid friendly basically. No, it doesn't have time travel things or anything like that, it does however have a small "I'm actually immortal" kind of thing there, but it plays very little to the story. Look, it's so sweet that you might actually get diabetes out of watching this anime.

I can genuinely say that this is one of my most favourite anime of all time. It is so wholesome and romantic with sweet comedy mixed in. It is laid back and you can just smile the whole way through.

Tonikawa's first intro is full stop one of my all time favorite anime intro songs, it's just so good. It's also fun to play in Beat Saber!
Edit: Also unlike a lot of shows that might try to trick you, Tonikawa really is exactly what it looks like: Wholesome couple show, no heart break. It's fantastic.
I promise you dude at first I also had the same thoughts that this anime is way too wholesome it gotta have a heartbreaking scene but honestly there isn't any in the anime. It will slowly but surely kill you with its wholesomeness. I Really love this anime!!!!

A small fun fact for those who might not know it: The second opening (season 2s opening) is actually storyboarded by the Mangaka himself. He explained on twitter that is the reason why he was a little behind on his deadline for the manga chapters lol. It is not super common to see mangaka directly contributing to an anime like that so it is really cool to see.
If you are interested in romance and slice of life, then you should definitely check out the Ah! My Goddess! openings too. They absolutely beautiful.
Man… As an older audience, at the back of my mind I always think of Hayate and his bad luck man.
