Welcome to Episode 30 of the Curious Crafters FlossTube. We’re two sisters who love handcrafting — cross stitch, knitting, sewing, and quilting — and figuring things out!

In this episode Anna and I discuss what we’re wearing, share several FFOs & finish, works in progress, & our plans, show a few shared supplies, and end with thumbs up. Along the way there is some chit-chat and a toast to kindness & craftmanship. Ready? Let’s Go! –Carolyn

  1. Im with you girls. I’d love to go to a workshop to learn all the things. Im new to cross stitch and have just been working it out as I go along ! Im sure there is a more efficient way to do some of the things. 😂

  2. Definitely a two thumbs up 👍 Anna & Carolyn…🤩 on this video! oh my those handcrafted boxes by Stan just simply gorgeous what treasures they will be for your granddaughters! Just a brilliant idea brought to life, will be fun to see what you place in them💕 Your stitching is amazingly beautiful as always such a treat to see & hear about…enjoy the rest of your Summer before heading back to school…take good care 🤗♥️🪡🧵

  3. Such a great video. The two of you bounce ideas off one another and end up with such beautiful pieces! The boxes for your grandchildren is such a wonderful idea and will be treasured by them.

  4. How fantthat you got to meet Sarah! The boxes are so beautiful!! I love the idea of filling them up with little treasures for when the girls are older. Love how your mom’s flatfold turned out. I really like that it’s not heavily adorned so it can shine perfectly. ❤

  5. I too will be joining Lauren…..and was thinking of Hoity Toity. But your Peacock, Unicorn and A badger has long been one of my favourites. hmmmmmmm…..which to choose

  6. Another great video. I loved it all. The boxes are amazing and the hours you spent with Sarah must have been an awesome time you both will remember for many months to come. I am presently stitching the Salt Shakers too and finding them so fun. I'm working on the summer pair and will go right into the autumn duo. All your projects are amazing. I was raised in Maryland and have many wonderful memories of the Delaware and Maryland beaches each summer. Not sure where Carolyn is going with her family but, wish her a safe and wonderful time with her family. Anna wishing you also a wonderful end of your summer before it's back to school. Looking forward to your next posting, until then, enjoy all your projects!! Donna, from Western NC.

  7. Great video ladies. I appreciate all your stitching and stories. I am a fellow California girl. In fact, my father lives in Cayucos. It was fun to hear you mention our dear coastal town. I live further south now.

  8. Thanks for the video ladies. The box looks amazing! You may wish to think about ensuring any stitched pieces are protected from direct contact with the wood though. I saw a video w an archivist (I think it was an interview on Karen Brown’s channel, Just Get It Done Quilts?) who strongly recommended keeping your fabric in plastic or the like as the wood can leach its natural oils.

  9. So fun that you met Sarah and Stan! No surprise she was just as she seems. I think the same would be true of both of you. You are so natural during your videos and your sister relationship is so great. I feel a little jealous every time i watch as I have 2 sisters but they both live in Michigan and I am 5 hours away in Chicago. Loved seeing all the stitching. I really enjoy the wardrobe chat even though I am not a sewer or knitter. Hearing that catwalk music is always a little jolt of jazziness as I stitch. Thanks for sharing xx

  10. Such fun as always. Jean Farrish is great. I’m torn about fancy floss as I also insist on wet blocking. So I have prepped some colors on a large project – say a red sampler, also a Dutch sampler. I also use Jean Farrish method of running floss over a wet sponge and that I’m hoping removes those unattached dye bits. ❤

  11. Hello Ladies, was just wondering if you would be able to tell me/us how counting pins work. I have not really heard anything about themescept that they exist. How do you use them. Only if you feel like it of course.

  12. Thank you ladies so much for the kind words about my shop! Your support means so much to me, thank you!
And shout out to Kepler's!! My friends and I used to hang out at Borrone's during high school summers after work. 🙂

  13. What a great video and full of amazing projects. I just love your cat walks, they are so adorable. The keepsake boxes for your granddaughters are absolutely precious and so glad you were able to connect with Sarah and Stan. I love the sampler you did for your Mom and I actually was born in Bristol near Allentown. We lived in Allentown when I was small before we moved to where we are now. We go to Allentown a lot, The Knitters Edge is one of my favorite yarn stores and they have lots of great yarn. I am getting ready for Sampler September so looking for a BAP. Narrowed it down to three: Mary Barres by Stacy Nash, Sarah Stewart Hardman 1824 and then Sarah Willson by The Scarlet Letter which I’m leaning towards for my Mom’s maiden name is Wilson. We have a lot of Elizabeth’s and Sarah’s in our Scottish heritage so those samplers speak to me the most. I absolutely love the Peacock and Badger, that’s a great BAP. I just started a cowl for my husband using Regis Merino Yak and you are right, the right yarn makes a difference and this is going to be wonderful to knit. Happy Stitching

  14. I forgot to mention that in January of each year in Harrisburg they have a PA Farm Show, you can always look it up online. Thinking it’s January 13, 2024 but they have a sheep to wool contest, where they shear the sheep, card, spin and weave a shawl. They auction the shawls off and last year one went for $2000! I actually went to this about 4 years ago and it was so much fun. It may be on PBS where you can watch it online too but not sure. I was gifted a sheep’s wool and although the process is a lot it was such a wonderful experience. I am still spinning the wool. The carding of the wool was the most work but again it was enjoyable.

  15. I just found out about your channel from Sarah @SarahsStitchySpot and came over to take a look! I really enjoyed your video. What fun to have a sister who stitches! I will be back!
