**NEW firmware 1.2.7** Everything you need to know to dig deep into the Behringer Pro-800. A review and demo.

The updates are coming thick and fast. This has been recorded with firmware 1.2.7 so Behringer could make some minor changes and additions but overall the way the system works will remain the same.

  1. I promised myself no more new synths this year, but this synth is just too good! Its worth selling some stuff in order to justify buying it!

  2. i wish, copy/paste and also save would be possible from bank to bank (and a compare would also be nice). And the second thing is the random function. If it worked from a little variations over fairly new sound to complete r2d2, it would be much more helpful.

  3. Damn! That's /so/ "much more betterer" than it was. And, that track at the end, when the sweeps come in, is really reminiscent of something (that I can't place). Great sound, and great track.

  4. Let's just be open and honest about it. Thomann is the seller of musical instruments in Europe. I have spent two luxury brand cars in gear there I think. And each time I see a package from them leaning against my mailbox (most don't fit inside unfortunately) my heart skips a beat or two.

  5. Polyphonic aftertouch? I see it, I hear it, but I thought B removed it after a recent firmware update, and that there was some controversy about whether it would be available in the future? My yes/no decision on this synth is PolyAT response over MIDI.

  6. Puis-je vous demander votre avis Starski sur ce synthétiseur ? Est-ce qu'il vaut un synthé dans les 1000 euros? Merci de votre incroyable travail.

  7. They just started sellng these in Japan. Surprisingly, they're even cheaper here–only 60,000 Yen or 330 GBP.. Of course, 30 GBP will buy you the new Octave Cat VSD from Cherry Audio, so there are still cheaper options.

  8. Your outro track shows what can be achieved with this, I think it's from your last vid so possibly not showcasing the newer features?
Someone else did a side by side with a P5 and the results were astounding close for the patches on hand.
This just cements whether you love or hate it, you cannot deny it's not great value for money considering its capabilities.

Thx for the upload once again.

  9. I'm skipping straight to all the cool musical examples I expect to hear on this nice channel. The Behringer clones surely do the trick.

  10. Thanks Starsky, great overview (& I’m sure your previous comparison was a factor in B hurrying up & improving the firmware). Watching/ hearing this I’m going to say a stupidly obvious thing- I really can’t understand why DSI/ sequential didn’t do something like this?
Ok they’d never do same price point but really don’t understand why, for decades, they stuck to their (not as good) DCO sound & didn’t go with much better sounding Prophet 5 based synths?

  11. Just wanna say that your reviews are really good, detailed, informative, and shows real usage, not only arps and blopps🤗🙏🎹💕Love cheers dear Starsky.

  12. Great review! Glad the firmware update fixed the envelope issue (though saw the reason for the "issue" in the video). Quick question – with your experience with Sequential products and real vintage instruments, how good does it do in giving the "vintage vibe" without a "vintage knob/mode"? Sounding awfully darn close to an original P 600 in single notes, etc. does not necessarily mean it has that character when played…

  13. Thanks for the heads up on the firmware update, Starsky. Was using 1.2.6 up to now. Just laziness on my part, not checking the behringer app often enough🥱😃
I will be referring to this video many, many times👍👍🖖

  14. I was thinking about getting a pro-1 for bass and leads. Can this do everything the pro 1 can and more, or are there advantages to having the pro 1 as a mono (price difference aside)?

  15. ayup fella, great work – massive congrats on the Thomann help and it's coming mate, you are doing the work so it's coming.
Anyway, the FW anomaly you speak of is this: the encoder (as it stands right now ….. . ) remembers the last function used, so if you were in sync and you leave to main screen mode when you turn the encoder you are actually turning the sync page – hope that helps. Not really an anomaly, just a way of working – i usually leave mine in unison detune or voice spread so i know i can wonk out whenever i like – i have seen people complaining things don't work when in fact after i dig a little bit i showed them they have adjusted the menu and unwillingly continued after the fact. Could be argued it is daft but i think the opposite, i like it as it leaves a performance function open without the need for a menu.

  16. Great continuation of your Pro-800 series! You better not let the Pro-800 cool down after Behringer has already announced the next firmware update 😀

  17. It just sounds lovely. And you can’t afford not to buy it at that price. Behringer are killing it man. Awesome sounding synths aren’t completely bananas expensive dream gear any more. And you don’t sound like a salesman at all, Thoman are brilliant. Well done on a very well deserved sponsor mate.

  18. I've used a fair few music retailers over the decades. In modern times some have been spotty or downright awful. Andertons were one that was dreadful for me in ordering as they'd continually lie about dates something was coming in.
When I decided to try Thomann out I never went back frankly. They're now my go to for most things as they're incredibly reliable. And if something does go wrong, they fix it quickly.
So I agree they're well worth supporting.

  19. Guess the only remaining difference between P600 and Pro-800 is the modulation depth on polymod section, unless they fixed that too?

  20. Why the hell can’t they put in at least a two line LCD. What a stupid limitation. The LED display makes it incredibly tedious to use.

  21. Ya, this is insane. Just ordered mine. I can't believe I'm going to finally own a synth that resembles my dream synth "The Prophet 5". Absolutely insane. Sure, not a Prophet, but if I get 80 percent there I'll be the happiest person in the world. This is so cool. Thank you Behringer for cloning a lot of these old classics. So freaking cool.
