I got into Oblivion Battery through the manga, and it was the chapter that touched on this specifically that both caught me by surprise (it had just been a fun gag manga with some serious moments sprinkled in until then) and made me feel like the story could actually be shaping up to be something special!
I love the bit on the water towers and thematic purpose in relation to Todo; I wouldn't have caught that without prior context.
