I don’t think it’s about Kafka’s worry or PTSD anymore. He knows he’s in a life risking situation to himself and others, got injured.
This has never been an issue once in S1, particularly after the battle with Isao Shinomiya, when he lost control and the Kaiju’s consciousness took over – I believe the Kaiju side of him is forcefully preventing Kafka’s transformation for some reason. Maybe he’s still badly injured cuz Kafka hit himself in the stomach and the power level went low or smth
