On June 8, 1940, HMS Glorious, one of Britain’s largest and fastest aircraft carriers, and a duo of escorts, Ardent and Acasta, detached from Vice Admiral Lionel Wells’ aircraft carrier squadron and set off towards England.
At the time, the three-ship British convoy had been taking part in Operation Alphabet, the evacuation of Allied forces from Norway, occurring simultaneously with the more known Dunkirk evacuation.
Initially, the rough and gloomy gray Arctic Ocean was a dramatic change for the 1,200 men crowded inside the Glorious’ labyrinthine steel interior. Thankfully, they were led by a famous Commander, Captain Guy D’Oyly-Hughes, who was even said to be a favorite of Winston Churchill’s.
By the end of the day, the Royal Navy had suffered one of its most devastating defeats in all of the War.
The official story caused controversy even during the war. Why was such an important ship left so unprotected?

Wrong HMS Ardent – the correct one had pennant no. H41. She was A-class destroyer commissioned in April 1930. The picture in the video is of the Type 21 Frigate – HSM Ardent with pennant no. F184, launched in May 1975 and sunk by Argentinian aircraft on 21 May 1982 during the Falklands War.
In 1979 I met one of HMS Glorious survivors he was in charge of Falmouth Docks in Cornwall just after I had left the Fleet Air Arm and was working for British Caledonian Helicopters at the docks.

Do little battleship that stayed and fought even after the aircraft carrier was gone is what being a hero is truly about. Although I would have been inclined to fight for Germany because the story is told about World War II and all the other things involved is nothing but propaganda and lies for the most part but I'm not going to get in all that here Peoria basically I just want to recognize bravery honor and heroic actions when I see them and this is one of the greatest. Ironically what is in my opinion the greatest military accomplishment and turn around and miracle that has ever occurred in all the history of humankind is to turn around that the Russians achieved when the Germans had pushed them all the way back almost to Moscow and in all the sweet young little ROTC nursing students in Cadets sang the song katyusha to all the young men and boys going out to meet the Nazis as the majority of the Red Army by the time it was full of new recruits and and draftees and such but the majority of the Red Army soldiers in the battles around Moscow and such were young Russian boys dude that really even seen battle yet as the majority of the veterans had already been killed by the Nazis and they were scared to death especially after watching what Blitzkrieg had accomplished in France and in Russia up into this point especially. But the sweet Angelic little katya's katusha and Yaroslavas singing that most beautiful and wonderful Russian song gave the soldiers Spirit determination in bravery Beyond ordinary is almost superhuman. It's like the spirits of these women combined with the spirits of their men to give them resolve and strength . The turnaround they completed with miraculous and it didn't stop until they reach berlin. Furthermore all of these young men that fought for their katusha felt sympathy and empathy for the plight of all the little erikas and Freyas in Germany and at the first wave consisted of mostly ethnic Russians that were very much related to many of these German people by culture and race they spent a great amount of their time rescuing and trying to save these women from rape and dishonor from the troops that followed afterwards which were mostly conscripts full of Asiatic and non-indian type people. You know mostly Mongolian Turkish and especially Charizard or Ashkenazi as many of these units were in control of officers who were of Jewish descent and were bent upon revenge for crimes against humanity that were actually never committed and in fact the majority of crimes of humanity were committed upon the Germans not buy them but the very first Red Army soldiers did their best to save innocent people and I would have to say that they are my favorite soldiers that ever lived even more than the famous Waffen SS. Would probably be my second favorite soldiers as most of these soldiers were all volunteers from all over the world because they knew what Germany was fighting for and it was nothing like what they tell you. Nothing at all like what they try to tell you. In fact there was a good guys and the story you been getting spoon fed for the last hundred years is nothing but lies

you want the most horrific singing of an allied ship, you want to look at HMS Hood or HMS Barham
Barham was torpedoed multiple times before rolling onto her side and the magazines detonated killing most of the surviving crew which escaped her capsizing
and we all know the story with Hood, only 3 survived

Why else would her sinking be bound to 100 years of secrecy. Lydia lost her father aboard MHS Glorious. He was due to adopt Lydia once home on leave!
