He wanted mikasa throw the scarf to forget him and have a happy long life. Mikasa tried to love another man (Jean) until they get married and have a child. She only did that because Eren said it even she doesn't really love the man (Jean) if so, why she didn't throw away the scarf to let go and forget about him and start a new life with her husband Jean. She tried to be happy because it's Eren request to her. But we saw that the scarf is always around her neck until she died at old age. She can't forget Eren, she doesn't want to forget him. The truth is, she feels empty till her last breath. She feels unhappy with her life because her reason to live is gone. (See you again) She fulfill the request of Eren to live long. She waited for a long time to die at old age to see him again in afterlife. Her love for Eren was pure and everlasting. No one can give her a true happiness beside Eren. All she wanted is to be with Eren for eternity.
The crazy thing is, Eren knew that he is going to hell when he died. So sad to think that even in afterlife, they never meant to be together. Mikasa waited for a long time to see Eren again. That is why there's no doubt that this anime and the writer has so many haters. The fans knew that In the first place, the main character was Eren & Mikasa. Totally wasted love story. His work was a waste.
This is the finale this is canon plsssss for the sake of my mental health
Ive been abusing myself, repeating this as twice a hundreds now and i liked it. </3
So sad, farewell AOT. You'll always remain in my heart.

I have watched the anime from the first episodes and have always followed it.
I really like the EreMika pair. Hopefully there will be a new ending, the author will give us explosive emotions to escape these days of depression.
Thanks to the song and animation for showing us that EreMika rests together forever in the afterlife.

Those who think that Mikasa is married
I want to ask some questions
1.why she did not forward her symbol to her child if she had biological child? In the manga panel we clearly see that Mikasa had bandages in her hand that means she did not forward her symbol .
2. We know that husband and wife buried together after death (people believe if husband and wife buried together then they will reunited in the afterlife) but incase Mikasa is buried with eren not her husband why it's happened?
3. Why she didn't throw her scarf ?
4. Now come to ring i believe it's wedding ring but not for someone else ,in this ed we clearly see mikasa fall in the river and wake up in the afterlife.Between those two scene , Mikasa and eren are together which shows that Mikasa is going to death with certain hope for reuniting with eren .This ed force me to think that Mikasa wears wedding ring for eren .we know that scarf and ring is buried with Mikasa that means Mikasa is going to afterlife with ring and scarf .may be afterlife Mikasa and eren is going to marry eachother where mikasa will put a ring on his hand and eren will wrap scarf around her ( which is also symbol of engagement ring according to Armin va)
4 . white lily which is shown in the manga and anime and this ed also proves that Mikasa isn't married

What was the worst thing to happen if they added something like this in the finale
This ED made me feel a little better. No work has ever evoked such lasting emotions in me.
I don’t understand the hype about the ring on her finger, it’s clear that it’s just a shadow of flowers, there’s no ring there and they’ll definitely comment on it. Mikasa did not have biological children, the author clearly hints about this to us. If you look closely at the scene with the child, you will notice that Mikasa is wearing the same uniform as in Historia’s orphanage (you can also notice the scene where she came to visit the grave in her old age in her usual clothes). On her deathbed (in the manga) she has a bandage on her arm, meaning she didn't pass on the Ackerman sign. And there are other details that tell us that she died a virgin (for example, the language of flowers). The man we saw with her is most likely Armin; it would be strange if he never visited his best friend. She never forgot Eren and loved him until her death, and she couldn't let him go. There were a lot of spoilers about the ending in the openings and ED, so this ED is a consolation to me that they are finally reunited in the afterlife.
