NEW DELHI: The Indo-Pacific (which has forged new geopolitical alignments mainly due to Chinese aggression and muscle-flexing) will remain an area of future contestation, says Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan. In his first media interview after taking over the top job a year ago, Gen. Chauhan said “due to compulsions of geography, our northern neighbour (China) will have to run its writ on two oceans if it wants to become a superpower; Indian Ocean is one of the oceans, the Pacific is another”. Gen. Chauhan was in conversation with Nitin A. Tell this guy not to talk big but address the increasing inefficiency and shocking cowardly acts in infantry. The 19 RR incident should have woken up this guy but didn’t. Three officers died pursuing 2-3 militants and the soldiers accompanying them seem to have vanished from scene, after contact was established. As a result, the police officer died of bleeding, unevaluated and unattended.
What a shame!
