      My point here folks is not that I wouldn't want to see Henry Cavill play Bond in an ideal world! My point here is the Bond franchise is too tainted with woke now, and I was so deeply offended by them killing Bond off in the last movie, they can F right OFF. We need NEW franchises, and this looks like a real step in the right direction! Of course this is only a trailer, but unless they're hiding something, this looks like JUST the kind of over the top fun spy movie that Cavill deserves!

      There is only one tiny thing about the trailer that worries me. Right at the end they mention that she is going to meet the real Argyle … and I doubt it will be anything but some version of „defy expectations“, tbh.

      If you want to see Cavill as Bond, why wait? Check out "The Man from Uncle", a movie based on the sixties tv show. He plays Napoleon Solo, a character very much based on sixties Bond. It was great fun. I wish they would make a couple more of those movies and let Bond RIP.

Why? Oscars Inclusion & Diversity Requirements. I quote from the mandates (any capitalization theirs):

      "STANDARD A: ON-SCREEN REPRESENTATION, THEMES AND NARRATIVES

      Asian, Hispanic/Latinx, Black/African American, Indigenous/Native American/Alaskan Native, Middle Eastern/North African, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander or Other underrepresented race or ethnicity"

      ZERO white men allowed in any lead role or significant supporting roles

      "A2. General ensemble cast

      Women, Racial or ethnic group, LGBTQ+, People with cognitive or physical disabilities, or who are deaf or hard of hearing"

      ZERO white men or normal ppl that are competent.

      …and of course the ppl that make this shite are reflective of the above bottom feeding miscreants, again their capitalization given I quote them:

      "STANDARD B: CREATIVE LEADERSHIP AND PROJECT TEAM"

      I can't tell if all the world is a stage and you are just playing to your audience or if you're that fk'ing stupid. Shed some like on this Brooks.

      The only thing I'm familiar of Henry Cavill is his time as Superman. However I will give this a shot because I love Bryce Dallas Howard. I was introduced to her when she was in Spider-Man 3 as Gwen Stacy. It also helps that I am a fan of Jurassic Park and her role in the series. She is one of the FEW red-haired girls left in Hollywood and she is rising to be one of my favorite celebrities. Hopefully this is a fun and well written film when it comes out.

      Trailers can be misleading, though. Look at that dumb "Barbie" movie for example. Nobody, not even the fans of the stupid thing, had any idea from the trailers that the actual movie had all that political slop in it. As Critical Drinker said, the marketing team for that movie were brilliant: they withheld all that from the promotional materials, and it wasn't until the suckers (i.e., the audience) paid their money that they found out what was really in it. So it could well be the case here as well. Sure, the trailers may look promising. But it's just as possible (if not likely) that in the finished film, it'll probably be the dumb girl character doing all the heroic adventure stuff, while the male character gets nerfed throughout the movie; like a younger-version of that last "Indy" movie. I can easily imagine that being the case.

      Still not convinced? Well, remember how excited everyone was (everyone but me, that is; I knew better) when they saw the "Kenobi" trailer? Look how that turned out…

      Im actually surprised that no one did something like this before, all the iconic characters of pop culture were developed and tested during decades, for each successful one there were tens that failed, they are very valuable, but they always were protected by ip rights and the popularity of the character, which makes knock offs inviable. But now they are allowing their popularity to diminish, which basically opens a gap for knock offs to steal the show and the popularity of the character.

      Matthew Vaughn has several other excellent movies including the criminally overlooked Man From Uncle, also starring Henry Cavill. I'll be there opening weekend!

      But the trailer hints that there is a real life Argyle, and we don't see who he/she is. I thought it's going to be a fat dude. Now you've got me convinced it's going to be a fat chick. Because Hollywood would not let a movie that we like be made now. Keep in mind, Cavill doesn't know that he signed on to such a thing. He thought he was going to be the actual hero. John Cena probably does, cause he would definitely sell out.

      Before the wokeness yes. I would say that Cavill would make a great bond, based on his role as Napoleon Solo in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. However, now because of No Time To Cry, I'd definitely say his talent deserves to be put to better use in other spy movies.

      Sounds like a bait and switch. The movie isn't about Cavel or Cena. They were hired for cameos for the name recognition, to lure people in, while the bulk of the movie uses cheaper talent.

      This is the best news in years! I've been waiting for new producers to replace the franchises destroyed by Hollywood for years, and it's finally happening!

      Sorry, but Mr. Cavill has the screen presence and acting talent of Bree Larson in other words…None. He would make for a really good male model for men's business suits. But then so would a well-designed mannequin. He sucked hard as Superman but did pretty good in an otherwise boring Mission Impossible outing while failing miserably in a Man From Uncle rip-off disaster. We have to face the facts…Hollywood is dead and has been for a while now. And nobody really cares how long the strike lasts because we, the paying public, have many other thinks to keep us entertained.

      I did see something in the trailer that worried me. At the end they reveal who the real Spy is. We don’t get to see who it is….
