Last week I took up the experience of helping out 16 year old Australian junior Charlie Camus at the US Open juniors in New York City. I enjoyed also hanging out with the two other Australian representatives in the junior boys; Hayden Jones & Pavle Marinkov. They’re a pretty comical trio with the three personalities all very different but the bond between them is healthy and strong.

Although I didn’t get the chance to have a recorded chat with Pavle I grabbed the chance to speak with Charlie and Hayden together about their individual tennis journeys, perspectives and aspirations.

Charlie is a left handed work horse mentality young fella, think of a Polmans or Millman type. He strives to get the most out of himself and conjures up his own motivation daily. Hayden, or as I refer to him, “Jonesy”has more of a relaxed confident attitude and a natural gift for the game. Out the middle kind of kid. I haven’t work with him on court or really trained with him so I can’t elaborate much more but I really enjoyed his company and believe he, like Charlie, can make some big strides in the coming year. Keep an eye out for Australia’s next best crop as they begin their journey on the men’s side.

Hope you enjoy getting to know them a little better.
