  1. Great video! I enjoyed it a lot! Also, I know I bring up Hololive a lot, but I'm familiar with a lot of these songs because they were performed at various events they had. I also wanted to say that Hololive's Tokiyami Towa covered the song at 12:45 if you're interested.

  2. Watching you inspiring me to watch new content I normally skip, thank you for that. Also it's not a top 100 without Tk, Lisa, Yoasobi and Ado.

  3. Ado songs hit so differently after hearing them in person.
and yeah it makes sense why the list is gonna be dominated by her and yoasobi.
Yoasobi was the biggest Japanese band for 4 years straight, their streak broken by Ado lol.
Curious to see how the list looks in a couple years though. all things considered both of them are very new still. and a bunch of their songs only came out recently so a few more years of song playbacks….LOL

  4. ahhh thanks for entertain me, always love your reactions aahhhhhh. Stay health first then good work Haoto-chan💙🤍

ps: I'm pretty sure that your voice is so cute and gentle, I think if you cover some of your favorites songs will turn out really good.

  5. when you ask who was gonna be number 1, and i havent seen this video, my first though is that it most be one of the ones i call "the big three of modern jpop", either Yaosobi, Lisa or Ado. even if i was wrong i was happy those three comprise like 20% of all the list

  6. so i did the counting for the UHHHH AHHHH after you said it and they turned out to be – "33" and also i counted ado and yoasobi songs and they were – ado 6 and yoasobi 9 making 15% of top 100 in japan just ado and yoasobi which is fantastic !!

  7. HigeDansim maybe not widely known especially in western but goddamn they dominate this list (as it should be) they are BIG in japan

  8. その辺のreactorよか余程よくご存知ですよ。というか、多分日本人の自分よりよく知っているかも^^;

  9. 0:42 Hikaru Utada's first album "First Love," sold over 7.65 million copies, making it the best-selling album of all time in Japan. The total number of copies sold, including overseas sales, is said to be about 9.91 million. On April 28th, they re-cut the title track "First Love" from this album. Their second album, Distance, sold 3 million copies in its first week (a total of 4.47 million copies), making it the best-selling album of first week. Their third album, DEEP RIVER, sold 3.6 million copies, making all three of their albums rank in the top 10 of Japan's all-time album charts.✨😆

By the way, she wrote both the lyrics and the music for this album, and she was only 15 years old at the time.😵Her debut song "Automatic" was released in 1998 and was a milestone work that popularized female R&B singers in Japan.🤗

  10. 1:36 This song, "Harujion", is not the theme song for the anime, but the 3rd digital single released in May 2020 by YOASOBI, which was originally formed as a project to turn novels into music. The song was created based on Shunki Hashizume's novel "Soredemo, Happy Ending".

The story depicts a woman who was bound by the past, taking a step into the future through new encounters and experiences.

The title "Harujion" is the name of a flower, and its flower language is "reminiscence of love", which is a perfect word to connect the scene in the novel where the protagonist reminisces about her memories with him and the lyrics to her feelings for him.

"Harujion" was also used as a tie-up song for the energy drink "ZONe" in Japan at the time, was used as the commercial song for the Nintendo Switch TV commercial, and was also chosen as the theme song for the feature-length play "Mukou no Kuni" by the theater troupe No Meets.

  11. 1:57 Kenshi Yonezu's "Uma to Shika" was written as the theme song for the drama "No Side Game," which depicts a rugby team made up of working adults. It was also played at the stadiums after the matches, along with the excitement of the Rugby World Cup held in Japan at the time.🏈

By the way, the title "Uma to Shika (Horse and deer)" comes from a Chinese legend that says, "There was a man so stupid that he could not tell a horse from a deer." When the two are put together, they mean "fool." I think the title was given to the protagonist, who is singing the song, to express his regret over the past and his disdain for himself.🤔

  12. 3:07 I'm sure there will be many more songs by Masaki Suda that make the rankings in the future😊 (For example, 88th place "Niji – Rainbow" and 85th place "Sayonara Elegy – Goodbye Elegy")
Besides being an actor, he has also had many hit songs as a musician, and released several songs in collaboration with Kenshi Yonezu.🤗

What I want to say here is that the people dancing in the video are Yutaka Mizutani, an actor who was a hugely popular child actor in the 60s and is still active today, and Ran Itou's daughter "Shuri", who was a member of the idol trio "Candies" that enjoyed explosive popularity in a very short period of time from the late 70s to the early 80s😀

And Masaki Suda's debut as an actor was in "Kamen Rider W" ✨🎭🏍😆

  13. 3:26 The band name of [Alexandros] was originally "Champagne". However, because it is protected as an appellation of origin for champagne, the French Council of Wine Producers of Champagne requested that they change the name, and they decided to change it in 2014. The new name was "Alexandros", which was thought up by vocalist Yohei Kawakami during a tour of the United States, and is said to have been inspired by Alexander the Great.😌

The reason for putting parentheses in the band name is that they want to be a cooler, more pretentious band.

…This requires an explanation, but first of all, in Japanese, "parentheses" is "Kakko" and "putting parentheses" is "Kakko wo Tsukeru". And "looking good" is "Kakkou wo tsukeru", and both are said casually as "Kakko Tsukeru"… so it was just a joke 😂

  14. 2:09 The band name "Official Hige-dan dyism" translates to "Official Bearded Dandyism 😅The strange name came from a poster of a dandy bearded foreigner hanging in the studio where they practiced, and they decided to keep making music together until they grew into dandy middle-aged men who could also wear beards.😆

  15. 4:01 The singer in this music video for Vaundy's "Odoriko" is played by an actress named Nana Komatsu. She is the wife of actor and singer Masaki Suda, whose song you just mentioned as "great." The two began appearing together in films as teenagers, and their relationship eventually developed into a real-life romance.🤗

  16. 5:26 The song "Haiyorokonde" was written, composed and sung by "Kocchino Kento", the younger brother of previously ranked actor and singer Masaki Suda 😆 And Masaki Suda's wife is actress Nana Komatsu, who previously played the singer in Vaundy's "Odoriko (Dancer)" music video 😲

  17. 11:50 I would like to introduce Gen Hoshino as a Japanese male artist that you should know about.✨😊

"Koi / Love" by Gen Hoshino

    ://youtu.be/jhOVibLEDhA?si=kXoPQCK9azn0Tfbc

This is the most talked about song of his career so far, and he produced it as the theme song for the TV drama "Nigeru wa Haji da ga Yaku ni Tatsu" in which he starred.🎉

This "It's shameful to run away, but it's useful" is a Hungarian proverb that means "Choose where you fight." It means that you don't need to cling to where you are now, or the situation you're in, go to a place where you can use your strengths, and consider running away as an option.

His brilliant performance and the dance that all the characters perform to this song at the end are called "Koi Dance". In 2017, posting videos of people dancing this dance on social media caused a big buzz, and even Kathleen Kennedy, the then US Ambassador to Japan, posted a video of herself dancing, making it a huge hit not only in Japan but across Asia 😆

Even more surprising was that after the main series ended and the special drama, which was made based on the series' undiminished popularity, the lead actor Gen Hoshino and the heroine Yui Aragaki (at the time, most unmarried Japanese men looked up to her as their ideal partner 😭) ended up getting married, just like in the drama, with the added bonus of a huge happy ending 🤣

Just to be clear, here's the synopsis:

Despite graduating from graduate school, Mikuri Moriyama (Yui Aragaki) found employment as a temporary worker due to difficulties finding employment, but was laid off and ended up unemployed. Her father, unable to bear the sight of his daughter searching for work, begs his former subordinate Tsuzaki Hiramasa (Gen Hoshino) , who used a housekeeping service, to help him out when he happens to be changing companies, and arranges a one-day-a-week job for her.

Hiramasa is a difficult man who doesn't like to be bothered by others, but he maintains a good distance from Mikuri and builds a good relationship with her.
However, when her parents decided to fulfill her wish to move to the countryside when she retired, Mikuri, who wanted to maintain the status quo, proposed to Hiramasa that they consider "marriage as employment." Hiramasa saw merit in the proposal and agreed, and the two chose to enter into a contract marriage in which they were "employer and employee."

Mikuri and Hiramasa get by by pretending to be in a common-law marriage without even having a wedding ceremony, but as they try to create a sense of closeness among those around them, such as by instituting a "hug day" to hide the suspicions of Hiramasa's colleague and Mikuri's aunt, who are suspicious of their distant relationship, true romantic feelings begin to blossom between the two.

  18. 10:56 Kitani Tatsuya currently hosts a late-night radio program called "All Night Nippon" every Monday from 3am, which has been running for 55 years.😊📻

In the commercial that airs during the program, he says something funny: "Imagine a character that represents the sun…If that character you imagine is wearing sunglasses, then he needs to listen to this radio program."🤣

  19. Fun fact: Aimer actually takes her name from french "aimer = to love", so if you know how to pronounce that, you got the right pronounciation of her name :).

  20. Alot of banger on this list with alot of talent that reappears on this list mutiple times like yoasobi, ado, kenshi yonezu, OHD, radwicks and many more
