Just in time for the Theatrical Re-Release, Aaron & Johnald take a deep dive into the sewers of NYC to give their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1990 Reaction, Recap, Commentary, Analysis & Full Movie Spoiler Review!!

Aaron Alexander & John Humphrey dive into the sewer-soaked streets of New York for their Reaction & Review of the 1990 live-action classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, directed by Steve Barron. Based on the beloved comic and animated series, this fan-favorite film brings Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael to life using groundbreaking Jim Henson creature effects.
Voiced by Brian Tochi (Revenge of the Nerds) as Leonardo, Robbie Rist (Full House) as Michelangelo, Corey Feldman (The Goonies, Stand by Me) as Donatello, and Josh Pais (A Beautiful Mind) as Raphael (who also physically portrayed the character), the film captures the turtles’ distinct personalities as they battle crime and search for their kidnapped master, Splinter (voiced by Kevin Clash of Sesame Street fame).
The movie also stars Judith Hoag (Halloweentown, Armageddon) as fearless reporter April O’Neil and Elias Koteas (The Thin Red Line, Crash) as vigilante Casey Jones, both of whom become unlikely allies in the fight against the villainous Foot Clan and their menacing leader, The Shredder (James Saito – Eli Stone, Always Be My Maybe). From rooftop ninja battles and pizza-fueled bonding to the emotionally charged rescue of Splinter and the final showdown with Shredder, this film blends martial arts action, humor, and heart in a way that defined ’90s kids’ cinema.
Packed with memorable one-liners, gritty cityscapes, and a killer soundtrack, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a shell-shocking adventure for fans old and new.

  1. At least April in this movie had something about her in personality and isnt just some soulless character just there for eye candy like Megan Fox was in the reboots

  2. Anyone who thinks that a ninja turtle needs to be CGI has no idea what they’re talking about. This was by far the best version. The second movie is fantastic as well.

  3. My family got this movie on VHS from Pizza Hut, which I thought was weird because of all the Domino's in it. Years later I thought, the delivery guy was late and the pizza went bad, some subtle shade at Domino's lol.

  4. This is one of the best martial arts in a costume representations, the skill level needed to do these moves is super high and they pulled it off especially with Ernie Reyes Jr in costume and the closest they have comes to this franchise is the film "Warriors of Virtue"

  5. I said it before, you guys really have to stop thinking that films made back in the day are ancient, remember movies made in the 70's 80's and 90's were about making movies, not making franchises looking to make a billion dollars, back then sequels were made because people wanted to see these characters again not because one movie leads into another into another and so on. Each movie held it's own and was story driven and good story was what made films great.

  6. My son was a Leonardo fan but his twin sister was a Michelangelo fan back in the 80's. I made them each their specific Ninja Turtle cake for their 6th birthday. Had hand cramps for a week after decorating those dang things. 😂

Now my 7 year old great-great-nephew loves this movie too.

  7. my favorite trivia fact for this movie is that all the stuntmen that do the fight scenes wearing the turtle outfits actually also appear as extras in other parts of the movie fighting the turtles. lol.

  8. I loved the animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (hero turtles in the UK) animated series in the 80s and watched this in the cinema with my Dad when I was 9 way back in 1990. Donatello being my fave. Great review both.

  9. In rhe original comics, Yoshi's rival was Oroku Nagi. When Tang Shen chose Yoshi, Nagi beat her and Yoshi killed him in rage.

It was then that Yoshi and Shen fled to America. But Oroku Saki had trained for years to become the Shredder and leader of the Foot Clan. After being mutated, Splinter trained the Turtles specifically to take out Shredder.

In their initial final battle, the turtles actually beat Shredder to a pulp and actually succeed in killing him.

Also, it's hilarious how the Turtle Power song misidentifies Raph as the leader of the Turtles.

  10. Had to watch and make home made pizza on a Boboli pan crust. With a cheese and red sauce and topped with Soy Chorizo and Orange Peppers. Spooky Summerween turtle Powers activate my taste buds!

  11. The actor who plays Casey Jones kills it in this role. This film and the sequel Secret of the Ooze are bonafide classics. Practical turtle suits > CGI turtles all day everyday.

  12. Love the original Ninja Turtles. I have a copy of the script page for the final scene on the roof when Splinter says “I have always liked Cowabunga” signed by the screen writer

  13. Sid might actually be the kid in toy story stuff like that certainly isn’t unheard of after all there’s a whole, silent Hill/kindergarten cop controversy

  14. 39:30 OMG i can't believe i just got that penicillin joke. 😅 that totally went over my head as a kid. this is the first time watching tmnt after learning how penicillin was discovered, such a clever joke.

as a kid, i was a big fan of tmnt and even cosplayed, i think it was as raph. i emphasised with leo as i was the oldest in a group of four and i was always at odds with my brother the same way leo and raph fight (as a family, not the circumstances they fight about. i've never been on a training trip to be a better leader and my brother has never been a vigilante), in fact, when watching the 2007 movie, i went "that's my family". i was the protector who was out of sync with what was cool, my brother was angry and had a lazy rep. my sister was more 'street smart' rather than 'tech smart' but you get the idea, and my baby brother was the one who could eat us out of house and home if he could and is the biggest partier and gamer, he once traveled to a beach town just to go pokemon hunting with his friends.
