  1. i was reading up on dandadan's production on sakuugablog and was shocked to hear about science saru's hellish production environment

  2. I definitely think the biggest problem with Science Saru and by extension Yuasa's projects there was being stretched way too thin, doing way too many things at once. Everything he made after Ping Pong wasn't nearly to the same level of quality as what he made before, and that's cause he was probably working on three projects simultaneously at any given point. I really hope he gets to take his time with whatever he's working on now, and really focus on it. Hopefully we get something to the same level as Ping Pong, Tatami Galaxy or Kaiba again one day.

  3. So in short… Uh… People take breaks and like changes?

And that's really all we can say for certain? Aside from Crunch Culture being an ever-present problem across the entire anime industry…

  4. Not to come in here with an agenda, but Ping Pong mention = maybe Ping Pong video?? Anyway, cool to get a video more broadly focused on the industry!

  5. I feel like Uasa and Maruyama are just hitting a new game plus everytime the studio they are working in turns into a worker churner

  6. From what I know of US labor laws and history, better working conditions don't come about through companies self-policing. Citizens have to push government to step in and pass labor laws. Government then has to enforce the laws it passed. I'm not at all familiar with Japanese labor laws. However, I've heard many stories of Japanese office work culture being awful when compared to American office work culture, though we certainly have our own 'churn and burn' industries. If the topic interests you, perhaps you could do a video exploring American versus Japanese labor laws/history that affects the animation industry. For example, are there Japanese unions? Do Japanese employees stage walk-outs, quit en masse, or do other forms of protest when their working conditions are awful? What do Japanese labor laws say about required breaks, minimum wage, etc? Is there anything American viewers can do to pressure US companies like Netflix to improve working conditions/compensation for Japanese animators? No worries if this is outside the scope of your channel. 🙂

  7. can anyone tell me where the animation of the black ink line girl on red at 3:18 with her hair growing superfast is from? love you if you do.

ps. thx Swamp Jawn i discovered your channel recently and i think it's up there with a lot of my favorite anime commentary/video essayists like..immediately. i just wish you had more videos for me to binge.

  8. Also Notable that Saru was acquired by toho last year, that could mean they were financially down, i hope toho doesnt push more projects onto them they are clearly struggling with the current amount they have on their plate considering how post ep 7, ddd basically ran on fumes and they had to add another director for cour 2

  9. This has long been announced (2 weeks ago I believe), I don't know if you've seen it yet but Eunyoung Choi has stepped down from her role of being the CEO of ScienceSARU. The current CEO role has been given to Masanori Fujita, a former Toho producer if I'm not mistaken
This will certainly affect ScienceSARU, what do you think of this
